New Years Resolutions for Better Health

Its that time of year again when we take a moment to think about what we would like to try and achieve in the coming year. For a lot of us, working towards better health is high on the list of priorities.

Maybe you struggled with some injuries last year such as back pain, knee pain or foot pain. Maybe you felt stressed, didn’t get enough good quality sleep and felt your work/life balance suffer. Maybe you had low energy levels, poor digestion, low immunity or just didn’t feel quite like your self. What ever the issue, the start of a New Year always feels like a good opportunity to make some changes for the better.

There can be lots of different factors at play when someone presents with any of the health issues described above, which means that the solution will mean tackling the issue from lots of different angles. Better nutrition, plenty of movement and good quality sleep are some of the most important things you can do for your health this year.

Massage and soft-tissue therapy is a great way of supporting your body as you try and improve your health. Massage increases blood flow, helping deliver vital nutrients to all of your tissues. It can help reduce the effects of stress and improve sleep by activating the parasympathetic nervous system – the “rest and digest” centre of the brain. More specific techniques such as trigger points, myofascial release and muscles energy techniques help your muscles and joints to move more freely and with less pain, making movement and exercise more enjoyable.

Wishing you good luck and good health for 2017!
